Piecing Together Sentences Through Animation

Piecing Together Sentences Through Animation (PTSA) is an educational software program teaching vocabulary and grammar to Hispanic English language learners. Designed for 1st-3rd graders of beginning proficiency levels, PTSA requires only rudimentary literacy skills. A multi-sensory approach that presents the material aurally, textually, and pictorially provides the learner with a variety of modes to access meaning. The learner’s task is to explore selected combinations of words by manipulating digital puzzle pieces and constructing sentences which come to life through animation. Using PTSA, learners build vocabulary and overcome common grammatical errors all within a motivating framework of fantasy and creativity.
