Many middle school students have difficulty in algebra because they lack a firm understanding of the pre-algebra concepts that are the basis for future mathematics learning. The proposed solution to this problem is to engage learners with a pre-algebra game on the Sifteo cubes. This tangible tool will allow students to grasp the numbers to be manipulated, utilizing physical transformations to solidify concepts to the mind. The benefit would be to have students 1) enjoy mathematics and become excited to begin algebra; and 2) improve their mathematical abilities (specifically with pre-algebra number sense).
